This is another of our family recipes used for coughs and colds, and particularly for coughs that won't go away.

Thyme:  is widely recognised for its protective effects against infections and is supportive of respiratory health. It functions as a bronchodilator and anti-inflammatory, making it useful for conditions like asthma. Its key compound, thymol, has expectorant, antispasmodic, and antimicrobial properties that benefit the lungs.  In Chinese medicine, thyme is associated with the  Lung meridian and is used to warm the lungs, especially in cases of white phlegm, chills, fever, asthma, and tuberculosis. It also supports the immune system during colds and helps clear sinus congestion due to its warming and drying nature.

Sage:  has long been used to ease cold symptoms. Its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties make it especially effective for calming sore throats and soothing inflamed tonsils. Thanks to its tannins, sage helps tighten and tone tissues, making them more resistant to infections.   As an expectorant, sage helps loosen mucus in the lungs and clear out postnasal drip and sinus congestion. It's also useful in managing fevers, as it can either encourage sweating to cool the body or reduce excessive sweating to help conserve fluids, depending on what the body needs.

Oregano: Oregano has long been used as a warming, clearing herb that supports the body during coughs and seasonal congestion. Its aromatic oils help loosen mucus, ease chest tightness, and support freer breathing.

We add ginger for its warming ability on the body "by relaxing the muscles surrounding the arteries and then stimulating arterial circulation, ginger delivers warmth to the body’s extremities, either warming cold hands and feet or promoting sweating that helps cool the body (Mase, 2013; Holmes, 1997). Combined with the antimicrobial properties and ability to thin mucous and support expectoration, this temperature modulation ability makes ginger an effective ally for supporting colds and flu. Ginger’s volatile oils stimulate the immune system to fight bacterial and viral infections (McIntyre, 1996)".

INGREDIENTS:  Filtered Water, Raw Honey, Organic Australian Brandy, Organic locally grown, Oregano, Thyme, Sage and Ginger.
